Well?? What's missing? It just doesnt seem "complete". My goal was to keep things very simple and "dark", but I'm still not sure what it needs without getting to detailed. I've played around with start button labels, but nothing I tried seems to fit very well. The overall theme and name of the cab is "VersuS".
Any thoughts?

*Note: I'm using GIMP 2.2, so anything I import has to be in either .xfd or .psd (So no Adobe Illustrator images :-\).

Niiiiiice... Although the joysticks and buttons seem a little high up...

Its only 3 cm higher than dead center. I did this so it looks better with the grid in the background. I could move it lower, but I think it might look a little funny.

Maybe 3 cm lower than center? I dunno, i guess i like my controls low...

Well, I'm 6'2. As it is, the CP comes up to my hips. If I put the joysticks any lower, my hands would get cramped from being in an unnatural position. I guess I could resolve that with a barstool though.......

It looks somewhat plain because your panel seems so big. If you draw the actual size of your button in that image, you will feel better about it. Im guessing it's because you dont have a trackaball or many admin buttons, Im sure when you build it, it will be okay.

Here's a little update. I was messing around with a few characters and came up with what you see below. I'm really partial to Magneto, and the vector I found fit really well. Somehow though, Akuma just doesnt seem to fit as well. Like I said before, I'm trying to keep things very dark and "anti-good guy". Any comments are welcome.

Sweet... Though I do agree that Akuma doesn't fit well, it kinda looks like theres a heavy borderline around him...

I really like what you did with the Akuma pic. The only advice I could offer is to build a cardboard mockup before commiting to the design. The two joysticks look like they could be further apart; make sure you have enough shoulder-room for two people to play comfortably.

The joystick mounting dots are the in the same spots as the ones on the original MK CP. The panel is 64cm x 34cm, and all I did is measure where the holes were located. Once I had them plotted in Photoshop, I used them as reference points for the remaining 12 control buttons.
Anyways, I ditched Akuma (even thought I didnt really want to) since I couldnt find the right style vector image that would fit the overall theme. I also drew up a marquee, but cant find the right font to use. I want something edgy and sharp. None of the default fonts in Gimp 2.2 are very aggressive. If anyone thinks they know of a beter one, please, by all means let me know! ;)

I think it would look better without the grid on it, but that would be3 my personal preferance.
