I'm starting to set up the PC that I'm going to be using in my cabinet
and am planning to run just a few different emulators along with
some other misc. PC games.
My delima is that I am wondering if I should change the default
MAME buttons to be more friendly for configuring some of the PC
software (which can sometimes be limited in what keys you use)
or if I should just keep the default setup and just use whatever
PC games will conform.
(PC Games like Virtua Tennis, NFL Blitz (which i know is a pain) and
other things like Dragons Lair 3d, and others....)
My top priority is having MAME, KillerInst. Emu, & Daphne working
100% - everything else I can add would just be ' fluff '.
I'll be using an IPAC 4 and know how to do the intial setup.. If there is
some feature of it where you can change button configs on the fly,
I am not aware of it (where maybe this would be a soloution?)
Changing Button configs in all of the emus seems like a pain tho....
What do you think? Have you run into this scenerio?

Yeah, MAME lets you redefine the keys "on the fly". Look into setting up a controller file (http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mameguide/mamecontrolini.htm).

MAME is fully mappable, so I think it would be easiest to change the MAME defaults. I change them anyway, because I don't like using Ctrl or Alt as the buttons.
