Title: Best monitor for an arcade depot kit?
Post by: dweebs0r on March 24, 2005, 07:37:46 pm
I need opinions from people who know, so that's why I posted here.

I bought an arcade depot cocktail kit and I need to know the best monitor
for this application.

I mean best, as in, most bang for my buck.

Should I use a 19 inch PC monitor, or some type of arcade monitor?

If I go with a PC monitor, will it fit correctly with the arcade depot kit and 19 inch bezel?

If an arcade monitor, which brand, and why?  Refurbished?

I know absolutly nothing about arcade monitors and I am leaning towards a PC monitor for this reason.  I just want it to fit correctly.

Thanks for the info,

Somebody on these forums said this seller was okay.

What about this monitor?

This is only about 40 bucks more than a 19 inch PC monitor.

Would this be better suited for what I need?

Just looking for opinions folks.  Preferably from those who have built an arcade depot cab before (pics would be great).

A PC monitor will just plug in and play, but you'll probably want to remove the case which can be a real pain.

Arcade monitors have a much more authentic look to them, since that's what the games are designed to be played on.

I'd say go for an arcade monitor.
