Title: Brief question for Andy if he is around.
Post by: paigeoliver on March 24, 2005, 07:58:25 am
I just got my joystickpac (or whatever it is called, the new one).

I planned on using two of the analog axis to hook up a pair of POT based spinners, will I have any trouble if they are off center during boot up?

Interesting possible new product name: Joystickpac. At least it's better than a name someone suggested for an analog interface about a year ago: anal-pac.

No worries about booting up with the control off-center. If you were to run the calibration routine in Windows with it off-center this would be interesting but not just booting up.

That should probably be reserved for use with the Toilet-cade though.

I shudder at the thought of games one might play with the Anal-Pac.

Well this game will eventually have to be emulated and we will need an interface...

Ok, it works great with the pot based spinners, the pots on mine need to be replaced, but the interface hooks them up very well.

If you are using a pot with a long range for a paddle then you are going to want to calibrate it on the control panel using less than the full range. I used half the range when I calibrated mine and it worked great, if I used the whole range then it was too long of a turn to move the paddle from left to right.

It looks like all the paddle games get the analog sensitivity set at 100 percent using this method.

Note, this only works for true paddle games, Avalanche, Bomb Bee, Gee Bee, Cutie Q, Warlords, Super Breakout, and 270 driving games. It isn't worth a damn in Arkanoid or Tempest.

And omega race?

(I have an omega race cp... but the pot is bad... So I never made a Omega race cp just for it...   But I might at some point)
