I think he may be a nice guy, but became way too bitter at the media, and has allowed that bitterness to flow over to the world in general.
He used to be an entertaining and top-notch interview back when he spoke to the media, now? Not so much. (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=755&e=1&u=/ap/20050323/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bbo_spring_training_rdp)

You do realize he gets death threats about himself and his family on a regular basis, yes? There's a lot more to this than the media will mention. I don't blame him one bit and I don't care if he has used steroids or not.
-
Arrogant --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules--, but what the hey, the man can hit.
-
The reason he's taking a year off is because it takes 1 year for the drugs to get out of your system.
-
I understand the death threats on a regular basis.
He started getting them long after he started acting as he does today.
He seems to have a persecution complex, probably due to guys like me
-
It's not a persecution complex... he actually IS a target. Sure, his combative manner makes the media dislike him, but they never did treat him the same way they treat the white superstars. They made McGwire a GOD for doing a fraction of what Bonds has done. He's intelligent enough to know this.
He may be an ---uvula--- but that doesn't make his point invalid. Some people don't like being in the spotlight, then you add being treated the way he gets treated, and I agree with most of what he says. He's also probably just waiting for the steroid hammer to drop and have his career and legacy be torn to shreds by jackals who make a living talking about what he produces.
I can't imagine the frustration of being that helpless in front of people who produce nothing other than commentary on work that I produce.

My Opinion? Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Good by Barry.

I havn't watched baseball since the baseball strike of 1994-95.

I haven't watched baseball since Barry Bonds was skinnier. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, so I had the "joy" of watching him way too much. He was pretty much a jagoff then too, though I have to admidt - he was the real talent on the team, and they gave Bobby Bonilla and Andy Van Slyke much better deals that they deserved, and treated Barry like he was of little importance to the team.
But that's all secondary. If Barry wants to be that way, and teams are still willing to pay for his services, then it really doesn't matter what I think.

Fredster wants me dead and I'm as pleasant as ever.

I've decided I don't want you dead. Just disabled in severe pain on life support.

I remember going to a marlins game when the giants were in town , i wanted an auto from him and he just walked on by, hes still a great player and theres not many around anymore, hes one of the few players left that make baseball watchable , baseball isnt as popular as it once was i say let him play as long as he wants.

Hopefully my wife would have the sense to pull the plug.

I'm putting in a vote for no life support, just a requirement for a daily catheter insertion and not even a promise of an aspirin ;)

Me either. That fiasco forever turned me off to the sport.
-
Me too, and that was a daunting task. My grandfather was briefly on the Sox, the 'kid' across the street from me had just been drafted in the first round by the Astros, another kid I knew was just drafted by the Angels, and my brother and I were both considered prospects for the same... and yet, that strike managed to make me indifferent to MLB.

Bonds is a complete jerk. He's been surly, unpleasant person since well before the media even noticed him. He had a chip on his shoulder back when he was an honest, human-sized player, and has an even bigger chip now that he is a juiced-up cheat.
He, McGwire, and the rest should be banned like Pete Rose. Selig should be fired and the MLB should lose its antitrust exemption.
