It's a no-name cab for now.
Not a whole lot to show yet...
I purchased the cab .. It was a NOS generic cab. It came with a metal control panel that simply would not do for me. So, my first major task was constructing the new control panel. This is it .. so far. It's taken a LOT longer than I thought it would. (mostly 'cause I'm a TERRIBLE carpenter)
I purchased 2 competition joysticks.. a V2 Spinner from Oscar.. a whole mess of buttons.. and an Imperial 3" trackball. I'm using a Keywiz.
I could have really made the CP a lot smaller.. but, I wanted to be able to play Golden Tee on this thing.
More pics to come later, as I get the thing together!

I'd be interested to hear people's opinion of that design. I have a rounded panel now, but I've been thinking of re-cutting it to that shape....
-
Why would you want to ditch the rounded CP? The reason I went for this type of design was mostly because I didn't think I'd be able to make a decent looking rounded CP ;)

I really wish I had my lexan before I cut the CP.. It's gonna be a pain to cut it now.
I did find a local place that would provide the lexan.. and cut it to my exact specified size for 40 dollars. I have no idea if that's a good price or not.
What do you think?

Here's another little update... The CP is complete (minus the art, lexan, and t-molding).
I know it looks a bit FAT.. but, I think it's going to look fine on the actual machine.

Next up... Shots of it wired.. and attached to the Cab itself.

ok. I'm progressing a bit more. The cab is up and playable.. And has been that way for about 6 months!! ACK! :( the dreaded half-done. But, right now I have a week off.. so, it's time to get some more work done.
Here is a mockup of the cliche "*cade" version. As you can see, it has a Toronto Maple Leaf theme. Not sure I'm gonna go with this yet. I wish I could come up with something a bit more.. creative. But, it's not easy.

And here's another quick marquee mockup... Which I think I like a bit better.

Hmm.. maybe I should go with a dark blue Bezel.....

thats a monster control panel.
I like the artwork a lot though

Haha.. yah, it's pretty big, huh? Only because I wanted to get the trackball further away from the monitor. Golden Tee is tough otherwise.

lol I am trying to figure out the best way to get the trackball on mine for golden tee. I am sick of spending $20 a go at the local pub, but man thats an adictive game.

I'd playtest with golden tee and see if you like the position of the trackball. It looks pretty close to the front of the CP. Mine is about 8 inches from the front of my CP and when people try to really hit the trackball hard in GT, sometimes they hit the palm of their hand on the front edge of the CP. I can't imagine it feels good :)
