Hey all ;D,
How you all doing? I am new here and loving it. I am really thinking about making a cab, somthing I have alway wanted but now with this sites help I think I can do it.
Anyway. I am needing a hand. I am putting speakers in to my roof. I have an amp with 4 out puts and I am planning to use car speakers as the are cheap and should sould not bad. I dont want to spend much money on this. I was thinking maybe two 6" by 9" and two other smaller speakers. but does any one have any help with what may be a better set up. and I am not sure about layout. How I am best to set them up?
It is a very small room and I am not looking for great bass.
Any help would be great.
Thanks guys ;)

wait.. are you putting speakers in your ROOF or your CEILING? If you're putting it on the roof.. i just need to ask why lol.
If you're putting them in the ceiling of the room, I hope you realize that that placement will have atrocious acoustics. You'll be firing down when you are trying to listen left to right. Depending on the room, you'll also have to worry about reflection and deflection.
Why would you want to do this exactly??
-
Cos all the best department stores have ceiling mounted speakers...
-
I yelled at someone from my roof once. That sounds like it fits.

If he lives in a trailer, then his ROOF is his CEILING
Touche.
I still say it's a horrid idea though.... unless you like you music tinny and muddy. Actually... tinny and muddy.... that might fit right in with the trailer ;)

You'd have better luck running a mono 70V system.
call these people they know a lot about audio gear, and have great prices.

i think maybe he means the "roof" of the cab

In that case just get powered speakers. call it a day

Unless he replies soon about what he means, this could get out of hand quickly. Next thing you know, he'll be breeding with frogs, or Shape D, or BOTH :o
;D

Just for once, Drew, don't complain about the French!
-
I don't get it...
Why are the French breeding with frogs on their roofs? Are the speakers for "mood music"?
-
he clearly wants to put them on the roof of his car
-
That rocks.

WOW I didn't think so many people would get back to me! :o
I will tell you my plan. It sounds a bit mad but will be very cool (well I hope anyway!). :-[
What I hope to do is put 4 small car speakers in the CEILING of my bathroom as I really love listening to music 1st thing in the morning but never have time. My computer room is just next door. So I will have the amp in there and just have the speaker cables running from it.
The sound does not need to be great. I have had the speakers set up in there and they sound all right.
Tell me has any one done this before? ???

I will change my respnse back to this then.
Car speakers have horrible accoustics.
-
But they are cheap! and sound ok in the room itself.
-
My roommate did this in college. The moist environment disintegrated the speakers.
-
thats right he said in the bathroom, you need weather resistant speakers.

Outdoor or boat speakers would work best

We all aren't Kresken?
Ha, I met that dude when I was 5. He put his hand on my head and tried to predict something, but I didn't speak enough English to know what he was talking about and just nodded.

I bet he would have had no trouble breeding frogs in there, though.....French frogs, even!
Why not just take a radio in there? It sounds like you're planning on making a day trip out of it, with sandwiches and everything in there.
Outdoor speakers will work, but it sounds like you're going to spend more in money and time than this project is worth.
