Title: U3000 and ARcadevga - is it a 31.5kHz?
Post by: PokerMan on March 21, 2005, 10:13:40 am
I just picked up a used monitor that is a WG U3000.  Building out my MAME hardware now, but have not bought anything else yet.

http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49083200.htm

Spec sheet tells me horizon sync frequency is 31.5kHz and Veritcal sync is 60 to 70 Hz.  Resolution is 640x20, 640x350, 640x480 with video bandwith:25MHz typical.

The spec sheets I think tell me it is a 31.5 kHz monitor, but now I am confused.  This game came out of a virtual figher 3 and those are medimum resolution.

I ask before I buy, as I will need to buy a video card from my PC one way or another.  I have not built the PC yet.

I am thinking of going arcadevga?  Is this the wrong way to go or do I  go advancedmame and some standard PC video card of some type.

arcadevga are ONLY FOR 15.75hz (CGA Mnitors) not VGA (31.5khz).

Yes Andy confirmed this for me.  Now the real question is what's the best way to drive this monitor?

It's a beauty 33" that I got for nothig, so don't want to throw it away.
