Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of those chunky molex connectors, like are used for connecting control panels?

www.farnell.co.uk
Much better company than Maplin. If Farnell doesn't stock it then it probably doesn't exist.

Yea Maplin don't stock them. They seem to get worse and worse every time I go in there.
Unfortunately that link doesn't appear to be working :(

Try this one:

Thanks buddy, although the original link is working now... ???

Wow! Thats just the kind of thing Im looking for too!
Ive had a look on the site but a search for 'molex' produced almost 1,500 results under various categories.
Ive had a look in each section but cant seem to find something similar. Any chance of providing a direct link or just posting what section they are in?
Thanks.

The reason you're probably getting so many results is because theres a company called MOLEX that makes a bunch of connectors lol. I searched it on Mouser and got a ton of results.

Search "molex plug" and click "Multipole".
Although I can only see the male connectors for both 12 and 15 pin. I was ideally after an 18 pin one as that's what's already fitted to my cab... And I'm not even sure they include the pins?

To be honest, if you don't mind soldering, you'd be far better off using Centronics connectors, which can also be bought from Farnell.

i used D25 plug and sockets for my removable panels
it turned out pretty good
just need to be able solder (not difficult just need to practice)

Do you not have to solder these molex connectors then? I don't particuarly mind as long as it works.

All the connectors in my cab are already these molex things so it would be nice to stick to that theme if possible. The panel isn't really ever going to be removed, I just want to have something that can be unplugged for whatever reason, if only to tidy up the internal wiring.

Don't know if you'd considered using RJ45 patch panels as an option

Again, I'd rather stick to the same theme throughout.
Other connectors just don't have that solid, chunky feeling of arcade parts... if you know what I mean?
