Title: Easy way out

I just picked up this distressed old Sears Silvertone bottom-of-the-line console stereo.  Took the T-Amp and clipped it to the speakers, and then fired up the laptop with SK Jukebox and WinCAB.

The biggest problem is it still sounds like a crappy old Sears Silvertone. :(   No real tweeter, just a smaller second speaker, and no real crossovers.  I'm thinking that some cieling surround sound coaxial speakers would work well in here to replace the small anemic full ranges.

The cabinet should clean up nicely with Formby's furniture restorer.  Worst case, I'll paint it.  It will be nicer than anything my building skills are capable of.  Eventually, I want to slowly build up a real BYO jukebox out of this, using a 9" VGA monitor or LCD panel under the lid.  Touchscreen sure would be nice.  This is a really small unit, being only 36" wide and only 15" deep, so it's not too imposing in a room.  That's what I liked about it.

My parents have one of these, but it plays 8-Tracks too.

I would keep the working record player and add the jukebox to the other side and replace the speakers.
