Hey all,
I'm not sure how many of you guys actually use it, but MAMEWAH Config is updated! All known bugs are fixed (I'm sure there are more though) and I added a 640x480 MC layout for all you people who like to work in low-res.
Also added is a "batch image copier" that will copy images to rom names based on categories. This is will let you make category images, like in the lower left of the attached image (my skin-in-progress). It can be extended for just about anything if there's a need but for now it satisfies me :)
Lastly, I fixed the way the inputs are reported to be like how MAMEWAH reports them. For example, "joy8way" becomes "8-Way Joystick", etc.
You can get it here (http://www.bluecamel.org/2005/02/26/mamewah-config-1611).

I'll check it out thanks. The previous version was useful, evem with a few bugs, so this should be better!

Heh :) I'm glad to see some people actually get some use out of it!
Let me know if you have any problems...

No big thang, but I just re-found this (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,30189.msg254572.html#msg254572) thread where Minwah explained how he translates all the values from MAME, so I updated MAMEWAH Config's gamelist output to (hopefully) be indistiguishable from MAMEWAH's.
Uploaded the new version to the same place.

Just fixed a relatively serious problem when loading ClrMAMEPro DAT files.. new version is uploaded!

How do you get mamewah to show the graphic of the controller buttons?

How do you get mamewah to show the graphic of the controller buttons?
You mean in my layout? That's just part of the background, it's not tied to controls.dat.

oh, I thought you might have figured some way to get one of the cpanel displayers to show there while in mamewah.

Hmm. I don't think it would be all that hard, to be honest. The process would be exactly the same as how I get the category for the currently selected game on there: You just batch-create them all beforehand! The only tool that I know of that will save the image is CPMaker (http://cpmaker.mameprojects.com/) (I'm not sure CPViewer/CPVW (http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer/screens.htm) or Johnny5 actually save the images) so you'll have to set that up first (it's hard though, I haven't even gotten all the way though setting it up!).
Once you're all the way through that, you can either use ListGen and make a batch file to make all the images. You'll run the batch file, add your new artwork path to your emulator config in MAMEWAH, and finally add the new Artwork # to your layout.
I could easily add this into MAMEWAH Config, just like I did with the category images. I don't want to replicate what's already been done, so I will probably still have to require CPMaker/CPViewer/CPVW to be set up and working first.
The tiny downside is that every time you want to update your controls.dat you'll have to re-run your batch file. Not a big deal though.
I sent a note to jcrouse about his CPViewer program since that seems to be the most popular and easiest to set up but I haven't heard back from him. Once I do and get a chance to try it, I can post specific instructions.

Screaming,
Send me an email to cpviewer@comcast.net and let me know what your looking for again. I may have accidentally deleted your last attempt.
Sorry,

That's a cool idea for how to do it. I have cpviewer setup and working, but would like to get buddabing's in game with pasue button thing working, but it keeps crashing on me, not sure what I'm doing wrong. If more projects start using controls.dat, maybe it will be kept up better in the future.

Wah? No ZiNc pre-config? Am I just not seeing it? ???
This is a great help getting things running otherwise! ;D

I don't use Zinc at all so I don't have a working configuration for it. If you or anyone else has one I'll happily add it to the list!
I'll work on finding one for you.

Minwah has a sticky on how to set Zinc up with no wrapper in the mameworld forum here (http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=22534&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1).
I haven't gotten this to work yet and it clashes with the other .ini's I've setup with your utility.
-
Screaming, thanks for updating the utility, it works great.
You should also add Gens (genesis) to the list. I'll post up a proper .ini for it once I get home.

Yeah!! Either send it to me or put it online and send me a URL and I'll add it to the list!

I took a look at those instructions and it seems the only special thing going on is the modified DAT file. I'll add Zinc to the preconfigured emulators list and add a note for people to download the DAT file. Can someone else confirm that this is really the case?

Okay! I uploaded the Zinc configuration so you should have it in your preconfigured emulator list. I haven't verified that it works though since I don't use Zinc. Can someone out there verify for me?
Also, you'll notice a feature in MC that up until now hasn't been used (and I will expand on as time goes by): Notes for preconfigured emulators :)
Zinc is the first "problem" emulator that I've had notes for, but Daphne is another one.. If someone wants to write up notes for that I would be much obliged!

Screaming: I emailed the three .ini files to your listed email address in you profile. I renamed them as .txt files so gmail would allow me to send them (gmail won't allow sending files that are executable, that includes cfg files). Just rename them and add them to the list.
Thanks again for a great utility.
Brian.

No problem! I uploaded them so you should see it in your list now.. Thanks!

Works great! Wasn't able to point the roms directory to c:\mame\roms\ and get the games to launch (would have been a bit less work). Copied the roms to c:\zinc\roms and all is well. I think this is a zinc config issue I've yet to figure out.
Great work!
