Title: Vision Pro went bad?
Post by: limiter on March 16, 2005, 09:38:35 pm
Hi, I just bought a Vision Pro VGA/SVGA horizontal mointor from Happ Controls.  I plug it in and try to use it and the mointor just clicks and I get no picture.  I assume this means the monitor is dead?  Thanks for input.

I believe the max res for the monitor in question is 800x600.

Is it possible the system you're connecting it to for testing is perhaps set to something higher?

Just a thought...

I thought of that also, but when the Motherboard is first powered on it should be displaying in 640x480.  The system was initially setup for 640x480 anyways.  There is no monitor flash when I power it on either, just clicks.

When I say "clicks" I mean not just once, but in repetitive forever sort of way.

In case anyone cares, the Happ Controls tech support said the monitor was clicking because the power supply was repeatedly powering down and starting up.

The power supply is shutting because a short circuit somewhere. Is it possible a screw or piece of metal could have landed on the circuit board during shipping? Is the circuit board in good physical condition and did not crack during shipment?

No screws stuck anywhere that is for sure.  I did not check the circuit board, but now Happ Controls has it.

I have to say my new problem is figuring out what is going on with my replacement.  First they tell me they are shipping me out a replacement at the same time as I return the broken one, and my CC company says they keep trying to charge the first monitor over and over.

Current status: I have sent back my broken monitor and they have received it. They finally successfully charged my credit card for the 1st one, but there is no record or any other information that they have had a new monitor sent out, ordered, or otherwise but they have now attempted to charge me for the 2nd monitor (unsuccessfully).  The worst part is I purchased the first monitor "new" but when it arrived it had "BAD MONITOR" written in huge letters on the box.

Is there another source for the 19inch VGA/SVGA horizontal mount monitors?  Dealing with Happ Controls is a pain.

This is unbelievable ... Happ Controls just told me that they will not give me a new monitor because the one I sent back did not have the same serial number as the one they sent me.

Let me point out that I have NEVER purchased one of these monitors before in my life so there is no way I could have sent the wrong monitor back to them.

They refuse to even discuss the possibility that they did something wrong, or that their serial numbers are incorrect in their system.

I don't know what to do.

Report it to the card company and file a contestment.

Also contact the manager at happs and explain if the situation is not resolved you will be filing a claim against them in small claims court, that they will have to come and defend. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this).

You didn't happen to photograph the monitor or box did you?

A photo with the original label happs used to ship it to you would be very useful to you right now.

Later,

Thanks for the suggestion.  The supervisor eventually helped me out.  It didn't look good for a while there because all they would say over and over is "the monitor you sent back is not the one we sold you" but I guess they found out someone put the old one back on the shelf to be sold.  They are sending me a new one when they come in.

Thanks goes to supervisor Amy for sorting it all out.

My never-ending cocktail mame aracde system will hopefully finally end soon so I can enjoy a cold beer and some classic arcade games.  :-\

let me guess , they used the age old line--the computers says its not the same one ???  gawd I hate it when customer service does that--who runs the computers jerkoffs?--the people, thats who! thats one of my pet peeves for sure is people who assume that because its in the computer it must be right.

You guessed it, they said the computers said I was lying.  Go figure.  I think the convincing point was when asked them if the serial number was printed on the box.  They said yes and I told them to go look at the box I sent back because it was the same one they sent me.  After they checked on that they decided to give me a new monitor.

What a terrible story.  I know I'll never be ordering anything direct from Happ from now on.
