Title: Need to find some PC mount PS/2 connectors
Post by: JoyMonkey on March 16, 2005, 07:26:58 pm
I was buying a bunch of parts for a keyboard splitter/encoder/LED thingamebob that has been flying around my little brain and without thinking, and somehow I ordered these 4 pin DINs (http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=search&item=DIN-4JC&type=store) instead of 6-pin PS/2 keyboard connectors. Doh!

Now I can't for the life of me find anywhere that sells PCB mountable female PS/2 connectors.

Where are they?  ???

Haha good luck.  I looked for these for like 3 weeks before giving up.  I saw some circuit thing at http://home.t-online.de/home/stephan.hans/tricks.htm#DUAL-KEYBOARD%20Circuit and I could not find the parts required :P  I figured I don't need it anyway with an Ipac.

EDIT:  Sorry to ruin your hopes and dreams...but if you do find them, please email me.

Hohoho! Looks like I found them here at Jameco Electronics (https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=120548). I hate ordering $1.70 worth of parts though. Better see what other stuff I think I could use some time (ie, stuff I'll buy thats going to sit in my room full of junk).

Actually Cholin, I'll be basing my thingamajig on that same circuit, but with a cheapo keyboard encoder and terminal block instead of the second keyboard connector.

Edit: I guess I could order some motors to try out the fantastic auto-switching 4/8way joystick I've been dreaming of. Hmmm......

Holy crap!  I looked for weeks for those parts!  Damn I knew I should have asked here!  And JoyMonkey, if you look around on that site, Im sure you could EASILY do your budget orderring parts that look cool and you'd like to give them a try.  Ill probably order a good $50 from them after seeing their site for 30 mins :) (need alot of stuff for one of my circuits :P )

This is the way it works, you need $1.50 worth of parts, but your brain tells you 'hey, don't pay $5 shipping just for that, get all this other stuff you'll use it some time I swear'. Right now I've got my shopping cart full of various sized knobs. No, not that kind of knob- I'm perfectly happy with what god gave me.

Right now Im trying to find the right Infrared receiver for my serial remote project :P  By the time I get the parts for all the projects I want to do (and I will do them!) I will have my cart loaded with little thingamabobs here and there...
