can the yoke be used as a steering wheel in anygames as well? Good way to consolidate the mame experience?

I think the he star wars yoke moves less then a 270 wheel. Example: a roadblasters joystick is like a star wars without the Y movement. So it could be used.

can compensations be made in mame software settings to allieviate teh less than 270 degree movement?

Not sure..... but I don't think there is too much of a difference...

The software doesn't know how many degrees you've rotated your controller. If you've calibrated your yoke, then the software should read a full turn to the left as a full turn to the left.

Bad example. The Roadblasters wheel is an oddball, as it uses an encoder wheel and optical pickup like a Pole Position wheel.
