Title: MAME32 default controls help needed
Post by: Scott Albright on May 10, 2002, 02:02:51 pm
I just updated to version .60 and refused the updated controls of the new version but it still appeared to override many of my controls.  I would like to map my KE72 to the MAME default keys to avoid in any issues in future upgrades, however, I can't seem to determine what the default keys were.  I had been using both MAME32 and FMAME32 and I finally accepted the new default config as well as deleted all the files from my config directory in MAME but it still appeared to hold some of my custom control settings.  Could any help me in determining either the default controls or provide a way to truly reset MAME/MAME32 to the original default controls.  Thanks!

I can't seem to determine what the default keys were.

Look at the file ctrlr\std.ini.  It lists the standard mame defaults, which mame32 uses.  But look next comment.

Mame32 saves cfg data in the windows registry.  Start up regedit.exe, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Freeware\mame32, and delete the mame32 folder.  Do not delete anything else!  Exit regedit.  All mame32 defaults will be returned to normal.
You can really mess up windows if you delete the wrong stuff, so be careful, and I am not responsable for any mistakes you make.

Thanks!  I thought that I had read something before about MAME32 using the registry for some settings.  I deleted that folder/keys as well as used the std.ini file as you mentioned.  It all worked great.  Thanks again for your quick and knowledgeable response!
