From reading the guides and other posts, I don't think thats going to be a problem.

your looking for a coindoor. if you buy on ebay, you'll ususally find coindoors without all the things like coin mechs or...well, thats it. if you buy new, or from someone that actually sells these parts for a living, they will sell coindoors with all the appropriate stuff, like the mechs. so the terminology is coindoor for what you want, but just like you can say a car is the whole shabang and also say car as just the body, you can say the same about the coin door. shoot ponyboy a pm if your interested in a new one for a good price, or search ebay and just realize that you have to go the extra mile to make sure your getting everything.

Just to set this straight for you incase. A coindoor is the metal plate you put on the front of your machine. It can be just for looks or it can be functional. To be functional, you require coin mechs. Coin mechs are the tall skinny electronic things that you snap into the back of your coin door so that when coins go through the slot, they go into the mech to be processed. When a coin is right, it flicks a switch (which is the part hooked up to the iPac) and then drops the coin out the bottom of the mech, which is where people put coin boxes to hold all the coins. The coin box is just a piece of metal formed into a box where your coins get stored. You could probably use a large funnel and a tin can for the same thing, and you get the authentic sound ;) Hope that cleared it up for ya.
EDIT: BTW, you're not looking for one thing. If you just want looks, you can use a coin door alone, but for a coin operated game, you need at least the coindoor and coinmechs. The coin box can be easily built out of household things, even if you have a spare baking pan! Sometimes, people put doors and wire it up so when you smack the door or press the coin return it will send a coin signal to the iPac, which would be considerred using it for looks.

Thanks for all your responses. Looks like I need a coin door with working coin mechasims. I've seen some instersting ways to catch the coins once they have been inserted, so I'm not concerned about a coin box. It's going to be for personal use anyway.
One side question, will a coin door with mechs that was previously used in an actual arcade game work with an I-PAC or do I need one made for this setup? Thanks.

Don't know for sure, but probably. Another thing Ive seen is where you BYO sensor or whatever to do that.

yeah the coin mechs for arcades work with an ipac. they have a microswitch like on the bottoms of joysticks, but they look a little different, but attach the same to an ipac.
