Has anyone used a Sunbeam Chameleon for lighting their cab project? Seems like if the controls were installed nice and low, my little kids could have fun changing the light configurations of the cab exterior and possibly the trackball (I am considering hacking it apart to make the knobs simply appear through wood of the cab and to use bigger, funner, more kid-friendly knobs ;D) Plus, it come with four "Super Bright" LEDs.
Here's a link. http://www.xoxide.com/sunbeam-chameleon-light-controller.html
Does anyone have a take on this? I am new to LEDs... I also realize I can purchase LEDs and resistors for cheap, but this system seems kinda nifty. Thoughts? Comments? Reviews?
Thanks!

this seems like a really cool idea. I'll be building my first cabinet as soon as i can get a new house with a garage, and hopefully someone will have done this before then so we can know how it works. i wonder how easy it is to add other led's though, because don't you use 4 alone to light a trackball or something?

no offense, but if your looking for cheap, and will be tearing it apart anyways, you could just use pots (changable resistors) in order to change the lighting and such. then you could have as many as you want and...
well let an electrician tell you about it, since i'm a mechanical engineer, i'm still a bit fuzzy with pots. good luck.
