First off, all the credit for this cabinet goes to bishmasterb for the concept. I did all the drawings in Autocad and machined the sides on a CNC milling machine. The drawings will be available if anyone interested. Drop me an email at the address on my website at http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer . All the parts are doweled together for a good fitment (again thanks to bishmasterb's idea).

Yes, black formica on the inside and of course yellow on the outside. I've tried painting before and failed miserably. The monitor is a 15" Wells Gardner D9100 running at 800x600. Send me an email to the address on my website at http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer and I'll email you the cad drawing.

None so far. I don't really expect any. I cut holes in the monitor tray and the fans in the top rear should pull everything out.

Thank you very much. As you know, it was totally your concept. I actually like the contours of your a little better. Yours seems a little less boxy than mine. Using an arcade monitor (the depth and bezel size) limited me somewhat.

Where did you find the yellow/black laminate? Mine are all painted, but I'd prefer the laminate. I've been hesitant to use laminate for fear of chipping during cutting. How did you get around that problem?
Thanks for the compliments. Of course mine is derivative of others as well, the main things I think I added to the design are placing the CP into the shell of the cabinet (most of the other one's had external CPs) and keeping the overall shape more in line with traditional full-size cabinets.
I've got some other ideas as well, but just no time to get them done!

If you never used laminate your missing a real treat. I truly is easy (and fun) to work with and makes even a hack like myself look like a professional.
I cut the sides then applied the black inside. A router bit has straight flures and a ball bearing for a guide. It cuts the formica perfetly straight as the bearing rolls on the edge of the MDF. I then used a centerdrill (machine shop item) to drill all the holes for the dowels and starter holes for the screws. A centerdrill has straight flutes and will not grab at the formica and try and pull it from the MDF. After centerdrilling for the dowels I then used a 3/8 formica cutter to just spot drill (countersink) the formica down to the depth of the MDF. That way the dowels don't actually touch the formica, again risking the chance of pulling it or chipping it. It sounds like a lot but is really quite simple. After all this I then glue on the Yellow and route the edge.
I cut my sides on a CNC milling machine. I am getting ready to make a 1/2" think aluminum master side. That way I can cut them all in my garage by just clamping the plate on a piece of MDF and using a router. I am also going to put drill bushings in the aluminum plate for a drill template for the 1/4" dowel holes. This should make building the next couple a breeze. I want to make another with a verticval monitor. I figure with the template I will be able to make a set of sides in about 15 or 20 minutes. I may make some extras if anyones interested and offer them to people on the board for materials costs and shipping (just a thought). Anyone interested?

So if I had you make one for me could you just make it without all the componets like monitor, computer,marquee and joysticks? Just the bare cab? If so how much do you think that would cost me with shipping included. I would really love to have a small centipede or robotron. With basically the same color schemes as those?
