I'm building a cab around a SlikStik Quad which is a big sucker at about 47" wide. I didn't want the control panel to stick out too far from the edges of the cab so I'm building the cab 40" wide. I thought that a 27" WG D9200 monitor might be too narrow for such a wide cab so I've been considering a D9200 33" monitor.
Are there any disadvantages in using the 33" model besides price?
Is the picture as good on the 33" as it is on a 27"?

Well i have seen it...SWEEET ! ! !...but you can really afford?its like $800 then shiping(probley $100 or more).
From the looks..nothing really wrong with it besides its a little(very little fuzzier) the the 27" model but I believe its normal.good luck and post pic of your cabinet on the double when complete ;).

I'd be a little concerned about your viewing frustrum in a stand-up cab. 33" is big. From the 2' or so away that your head will be you may not be able to focus on the whole screen well. I have a 32" television and can't imagine being comfortable that close.
-
Good point about the viewing distance. I've seen standups in a local arcade that have screens that are at least 32". I'll have to go play a few of them to see if this causes a viewing problem.
I was trying to come up with a way to keep my cab from looking odd with such a wide CP sticking out too far on either end of the cab. I was afraid that it may look equally odd if I built the cab wider but had a narrow monitor (27").

before you buy anything, take a look at the images from the Oscar contest. Reason I'm saying this is that I personally think that they don't look as good as other much cheaper options.
thier true arcade monitors look GREAT but their VGA monitors loose some color depth (similar to my EYGO monitor). I think my monitor is great for the price, but if you are talking 900 bucks, I think it's time to look into some other options (like a true arcade monitor, jpac and a matrox board... then when Andrew comes out with the arcade video card based on the radeon chip you can just use it.) or (SVid TV 33" with an ATI video card with TV out). Both solutions do better for arcade games, but worse in windows for PC games btw.
good luck

Not makin fun of ya but.....ANDREW IS???
Isn't it Andy Warne ????
And yes..the dude has a point that it cost like $800 but its every penny worth it if you ask me.Far far far better then TV and real arcade monitors are just pain in the --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- to deal with and a 33" real arcade monitor would cost around $600 anyways.

Duh! I was reading it and wondering what you were talking about... I don't know how I messed up so bad... I wasn't even drunk...

Note that number 1 is what the well gardner will look like 27" or 33". This is because (I believe) in the conversion to VGA. this is also what EYGO monitors look like (and in my mind the only one that looks worse is the is the SVGA.
Take a look at the trees and notice that mount of color depth that is lost.
the best is in my mind is the #7, then 8 or 3...
take a look and decide for yourself

I just wanted to say.. I have the D9200 27" and it looks NOTHING like the #1 shot on Oscar's screenshots. There must be some difference between the 9100 and 9200. That looks _far_ clearer/sharp whereas my 27" is much more soft/blended. Perhaps this is just due to the size difference in the monitor.
-
Please do me a favor and play spyhunter... Then look at the bushes on the side.
The difference might be that yours was originally an arcade monitor, then they added a VGA adaptor to it... and the other are just true VGA monitors.
I've would really really like to know what are acceptable (ie, better then my eygo monitor) for my next project..
thanks :)

I took pictures of my monitor (in Spy Hunter) a few weeks back.. Look for the thread. (I think it was another thread about D9200s).
And mine is a brand new 27" D9200, not a converted arcade monitor. Like I said, I think the difference is that at 27" the dot pitch is much greater than the 19" D9100 that was on the Oscar site. This greater dot pitch reduces clarity, which for most people here is a good thing.
