Title: FS - Spinner
Post by: HaRuMaN on March 09, 2005, 12:33:58 pm
This is a spinner I built using an old hard drive.  Mouse hack (Logitech PS2) included.  Mounting bolts and wood screws included, as well as a wooden spinner top (black) that I made as well.

<edit>  Tested this, works great!   :)  </edit>

What's your asking price plus shipping cost in the USA?

For USA, I was thinking about $25 shipped.  :)

I've been tempted to build a mouse-hack but I'm concerned by the wheel size. Isn't it better when you have a large encoder wheel? Or does it really matter?

From what I've seen in testing it, it doesn't seem to matter much at all.  Plus, you can always adjust the sensitivity in MAME if its not as responsive or too responsive.

Can you post a pic of the custom knob?

Sure...  it's nothing all that special really, just a wooden lid to a small box I painted with black enamel.

Don't like how you mounted it :P  Either way, $25 shipped is not too bad at all considerring it works and that it is cheaper than a pro one.  Is there a guide to making spinners with HDs because these are the few parts I ACTUALLY HAVE!  I got a spare mouse and HD!

If I lived in the states, I would consider it, so can't help you there :(

Yeah, I pretty much followed "the nasty method"  ;)

However, for someone without a dead hard drive, or a spare mouse, or the patience...   :P  $25 isn't too bad I don't think.
