I posted this about a year ago in the B/S/T forum and got no response. Thought I'd try here....
I know a LOT of people have stacks of dead monitors/chassis that are attached to frames. A lot of these are given away on the RGVAC newsgroup as free friday items (for pickup only of course--well away from the state I live in (MN/ND border)).
As I build more and more monitors, I've run out of frames to put them in. Does anyone know where I could find someone that has a stash of extra horizontal or vertical oriented frames from say old Electrohome/Wells-Gardner monitors? Condition doesn't matter as long as they're not rusting through or bent to weaken them ...
The few rare times I've seen them on eBay they've sold for only a couple bucks but shipping was too high ($25 on 1 not collapsed with wood frame) when it should only cost about $8 to $12 for 1 to 5 of them when flattented (remove the 4/6 screws) which they then take almost no shipping space, and shipping would be low if shipped a handful at once.
Yeah, I can mount direct to plywood and build a shelf for the chassis, but I know these often end up thrown out so hopefully someone reading might have a stash to get rid of for a little over shipping costs? :)

I'm sure you could buy the frames straight from Wells-Gardner. They would be brand new though.

It's funny you mention that. You know those monitors that Art Mallet recently posted about? I'm going to be picking them up on Saturday. Going to be getting a lot of frames, from what I understand. I'll know more after I pick them up.

Peale,
I may want/buy one or two of these if you are willing to let them go. MonitorGuru has first dibs though ;D

Gonna be a *lot* of crap, and I'm more than happy to share the wealth.
I accepted it for the 4900s and the 4600s, the other stuff I don't have any interest in. Just wait, the tubes will be 99% burn.

This was the closest thread that I could find with my question after searching online for a while.
Same question: Is there anywhere to find cheap used mounting frames?

Along the same line, could I find a frame that would fit a 27" Sony Trinitron TV tube? Anyone know if tv's stick to standard dimension for the four mounting ears?
