Title: Keywiz Pro question for Randy!
Post by: oldskoolcade on March 09, 2005, 11:23:59 am
My neighbour got his keywiz pro, and I noticed that it's different than mine.   Mine had screw down terminals for the 5v line, plus 2 grounds... now where the 5v and G would be on mine, it's got a black mark on it.   Are those no longer used for those purposes??

Cheers!

At the last board design, those terminals were dedicated to future expansion.  Another reason is that the 5v lines were causing people to wonder whether the unit should be hooked to a 5v supply (NO!NO!NO!NO! :) ).  So I made it a little less "accessible".

There is a place in the recent to solder in a 2 pin header for 5v.  You can also just solder the wires directly to these points.

Alternatively, I can provide a diagram that shows where a small jumper wire can be soldered to re-enable the 5v terminal.

Just email me for the info.

BTW, the No-Solder KeyWiz Eco2,  GP-Wiz and GP-Wiz49 have the 5v line accessible on a pin.  The GP-Wiz49 MAX has a screw terminal re-enabled for a 5v connection as this is necessary for the 49-way sticks to operate.

Could you silk screen "5V out" or is there not enough room?

Heh.  I barely had enough room for the "+5v" .

But the reason goes deeper than that.  There are some future plans that will need the connection points.
