Hi guys. Long time lurker, first time poster. I have been scouring the Internet looking for a place to buy Japanese style arcade parts. I'm talkin about the short, ball topped, microswitched joysticks and the convex shorty buttons. My brain is throbbing with the searching of google and deja with all kinds of interesting queries, to no avail. My only other option appears to be hacking DC arcade sticks. Which is cool and all, but I would like to find the parts if at all possible. Thanks in advance for ANY and all information provided.

I think Andy might have what you need, he sells Japanese controls.
www.ultimarc.com
......under controls funny enough ;D

Looks good, however I am looking for something similar to the Sega controls. (Shorter?) Also, any source for the buttons?

It wouldn't be hard to shim the ball tops or use 3/4" wood if you want a shorter shaft. I'm afraid I've never seen those sega controls so I can't help you with the buttons.

For the second time today I would suggest Suzo (UK). I don't own shares in the company honest!
They sell a range of Sega joysticks that look similar to the Ultimarc sticks but have shorter shafts. I'm not sure about the Sega buttons though.
The joysticks are not shown in their main catalogue so you'll have to ask to be sent a separate photocopied sheet. Send them an email for the attention of Jed Price, he's very helpful.
There are also some companies based in Japan and Hong Kong. I can't remember the names but their details have been posted on the BYOAC message board before.

You may want to check out these guys. They have true Japanese balltop sticks and also have convex pushbuttons.

Hyiu is correct. That is the most authentic place to get jap parts. If you life in Canada, www.starburstcoin.com orders directly from Sanwa and usually stocks Joysticks and buttons. <-- I found that the buttons are NOT the "screw" design and will ONLY MOUNT to 16guage Sheet metal. THe joysticks have a shorter shaft and are best mounted on to metal as well.
