first tone it down a bit. I can't hear you if you are yelling but if I heard your questions correctly, yes you can.

I have a orig. 1942 and the monitor went bad It needs a cap kit

see what I mean by not yelling. I totally dinot hear what you wanted. Now it seems to me that you have an origianl 1942 PCB and your arcade monitor went bad and you wnat to hook up a PC monitor.
Yes you can but the $$$$ is way to much comparing to just getting an original arcade monitor. You can find used one for under $50.00.
As for a CONVERTER, it gonna cost more more more more......

what type of converter? and how much do they cost? would it be best to buy a new monitor
the only reason that I was thinking about a lcd monitor is size.
-
a new 19" arcade monitor is around $150.00. Sometimes its on sale. I'm sure there are cheaper ones but thats your base line price.
-
maybe you wnat to try this. Use a TV instead with your game board.

Is there a place that you would recommend for a new monitor?

If you want my take on it,
I use WG monitors. Happs Sells them, Betson Imperial sells them.
There are other brand like Imperial which are Kortek Monitors are goo as I heard.

If you know it needs a cap kit, then cap it! Cap kits are like $7.
