Title: Fired up the monitor: WORTH EVERY PENNY
Post by: JCKnife on March 07, 2005, 10:24:59 am
Over the weekend I finally hooked up my AVGA card and WG-D9200 monitor. Previously I had been playing on a tiny PC monitor on a $17 video card that screwed up all the resolutions. So I'm coming at this from a particularly bad start but OH MY GOD what an amazing difference this combination produces. For now I'm running MAME32 but once I get it in the cab I plan to switch to regular MAME with a front end (prolly MAMEWAH). But mostly the right resolution came up automatically (couple I had to tweak). It was just such a joy to play all these old games in colorful, 27" glory. And even MORE than the arcade games, the old console games (SNES and Genesis) look awesome as well! Now more than ever I can't wait to get the cabinet built. I played all weekend with the monitor sitting on a desk and my CP on an ottoman. :)

I can feel your joy.......I couldn't drop the bling on a 9200, but of course I have a cocktail...but have AVGA hooked up to a VisionPro arcade monitor and WOW !!.....Got even better when I put a smoked plexi in front of it......Gonna have to try the nes and snes emu's to see how they look....forgot about those poor guys...

Why oh why can't their be a multi-mode 19" equivalent.    :'(

27" is just too big for me.
