Hey guys,
I finaly got a working monitor installed in my soul calibur machine but theirs just one thing im curious about it. I noticed that on about 90%of the screen there are small, thin black horizontal lines that seem to go across it except for the top few inches(25" mon). Now these arent really noticeable... as a matter of fact they are so not noticable that I cant even take a pic of it and have it show. But I was wondering if anyone knew the cause of that and how to fix it? thanks!

another note is that when I ran the diagnal line test the white diag lines bend where the screen goes from the part with horiz black lines to the normal...

Could be maybe a weak cabinet ground connection somewhere inside your cabinet or maybe even your grounded wall outlet. Your power cord isn't missing the ground prong is it? Check the screw terminal connections on the power supply for tightness.
Another thing to check is the fluorescent light ballast. Temporarily remove the fluorescent light bulb to see if the problem stops.

I disconected the light fixture but the problem still occured. I checked the connections on the power supply and they seem fine. Yes the cord has a ground prong on it and other games are hooked up to the same outlet and work just fine so Id asume its ok too. hhmmm.. are there certain grounds inperticular I should be looking at inside the Cab to check and make sure they're ok? Also, should there be a ground wire runing up to the monitors metal chasis?
-
Yes, there should be a ground wire from the monitor's metal chassis to all the other cabinet ground connections.

hhmmm well it looks like the metal chasis does have a ground connected to it and ive been checking around the cab and everything seems fine... heres what the Diag Display test shows: (http://home.comcast.net/~ano316gamer/DiagTest.JPG) at the top of the screen the lines sorta curve which is the same spot the fine horizontal lines stop. Hhhmm any other ideas?

You might try cleaning the gameboard's edge connector and reseating any socketed chips on the gameboard.
Could be some interference from an adjacent video game so try moving this cabinet out say 3 feet from any other games temporarily to see what happens.

hhmmm I tried reseating the connectors and such but it still seems to occur. Another interesting note is that when I first turn on the machine the monitor is fine. However after like 5 min or so it slowly starts to get the issue then at about 10min in the issue is at its worst. I also noticed that when the screen is black you can see diagnal lines scrolling from left bottom to top right.

hhmmm I tried other game boards in and the problem still seems to exist so its not game-board related. My guess would be its a dieing cap causing the problem because of how when you first boot up the machine the problem is barely noticable then as time goes on it appears. However monitor did just had a cap kit put on it and a new flyback installed. Anyone else have an suggestions or agree with my theory?
