Title: MAME Config Menu and HAGSTROM Encoder
Post by: liche on November 02, 2002, 11:32:35 am
I'm setting up my control panel now, and I noticed that the only way to make changes while in the MAME configuration menu (TAB key) is to press the ENTER key.

Is there a way to remap this configuration menu select key from ENTER key to another key.  I'm using a hagstrom KE18 encoder for my control panel inputs (non-matrixed mode) it doesn't have an input for the ENTER key.

Any help appreciated ! ! ! !

Thanks

In MAME 0.60 and up, you can also do this with ctrlr.ini files.

With a keyboard, go into the Tab key menu and choose "Input General"  and change the setting for UI SELECT.

A couple of words of caution.  You probably want to redefine this to "some key OR Enter"  Otherwise, it's pretty instinctive to use Enter on the keyboard when using the keyboard to make changes.

Also, I found it pretty easy to accidentally set it to "None"  This is a minor problem as there is now no key to press to set it to something else.  If you accidentally do this, you need to delete your C:\mame\cfg\default.cfg file and then re-input any other customizations you have made.
