Please see the following two screenshots. Please notice the bottom of the screen. Does this in all Mortal Kombats Rtype and a few other games.

[just in case it was not obvious..the last few lines are squnched up]
Some more probably needed info.
WG 7000 25" zenith flyback model monitor
arcadevga card
DOS v7
arcadeos
latest dosmame
I have had this problem for over a year.
This monitor also has a zoom problem when you first turn it on and then from time to time after that....what it does is seems like a focus problem when the entire screen gets bigger smaller bigger smaller like a loose connection or something. I have had flyback problems with this monitor before a replaced it. I have never done a cap kit but the color bars and grid and games all look fine except those mentioned above and a few others and the "focus" problem. I was told that a cap kit would not fix it a year ago. The focus problem is not constant but sometimes worse than others. Weird.
Thanks in advance.

I don't drink alcohol, but I'll try to help anyway :)
For the scrunched line problem, this can be caused by many things...
1) Cap kit - vertical collapse at edge of screen due to dried up capacitors
2) VLINE control out of wack (Vertical linearity)
3) Out of range sync signal frequency
4) Too powerful of a syc signal
The last 2 are possible since you stated you're driving this through Mame/VGA card and not an arcade board.
For the focus problem, I'm presuming you have a poor power regulator/supply on the monitor.

For the squished/folded over problem, have you tried adjusting the 50/60 hz trimpot and/or the vertical size/height trimpot? See www.jstookey.com/arcade/WG_25k7191/ for more information and pictures.
Focus problems can be from an internal problem in the picture tube, a bad flyback, a bad picture tube socket (corroded pins) on the neckboard, or dried out capacitors. Generally though I'd say you've got a bad flyback.

Ken! Glad to see you are still around!
You helped me last year Jan 19th with the monitor. I had a problem where the chassis was live and the monitor would not power up and just made loud zapping sounds. I took pictures of my board and you identified the crack in my zenith flyback!! So I replaced it. Now Im having flyback issues again...sniff sniff. These Zenith ones are hard to find. Do you know where I can get a replacement? I bought a used one from someone here last time. Monitor worked well for a while. Now it makes a crackle when first turned on and a loud buzzing till the computer is turned on.
I will clean the neck board and dont really think is the caps. I think you are right that it is the flyback.
However, the 50-60hz pot did fix the mortal kombat problem. I have not tried any other games to see if it negatively effected them but for rtype and mk they look great except for the bloomin blooming thats going on. I guess I can deal with it till I find a flyback.
You are a real asset to everyone here. Please do not ever get burned out on this hobby. Pm me with your paypal so I can get you a beer.

MonitorGuru,
Thanks for your help. Ken nailed the problem with the bottom line. It was the 50/60hz pot on my k7000. I never knew what this pot did as adjusting it when I first set this machine up made no difference at all. But apparently I shugged it off and later when running mk and some other games never assosiated (sp?) the problem with that pot.
However, I think you and ken hit the nail on the head regarding the blooming issue. I think its may flyback as well. This thing has already been replaced too.
For the focus problem, I'm presuming you have a poor power regulator/supply on the monitor.
