Is there such thing as a USB/PS2 type arcade trackball? If so do these work well with MAME?
-
There are many trackballs that have USB or PS2 connections already on them, and I believe Happs sells them. I cant tell you how they work though because I dont have one, but Im guessing they work just like any other trackball because thats how theyre usually connected anyways.

You can "mouse hack" any USB mouse into a standard trackball. Just do a search on the forum for "mouse hack" and then buy a USB mouse to hack.

I wouldn't hack a mouse myself.
why?
Oscar sells one for 10 bucks. Real clean and works great.
And when I tried to hack one... it took 3... and I never got one really working. But my soldering sucks.

I've got a q' about the Oscar Mouse hack. Are there one or 2 things you have to buy? He's got the "USB mouse interface" which has a spinner harness and then also the "Happ trackball harness" which says "This harness will connect a Happ trackball to the Oscar Controls USB mouse interface." If you need both then it's more likt $17+ shipping.
The happ tball harness is the cord that an arcade machine uses. It's just a cord that comes from each of the two IR boards and ends in a 6 pin molex.

That's what it is.
I believe that's what oscarcontrols is talking about. I haven't been on oscarcontrols for sometime though.
