spybot and ad-aware
I love these 2 programs.
thay are free.
spybot run update before you run it. Even if you have the newest version
on first run I mean. about 1 time a month I check for updates.
should fix you right up

thanks, I tried both and seems like Spybot is better cause it has an option to BLOCK the ones found. Now I will still use both plus my Spykiller. Better 3 thatn one  :D

funny is that Spybot detects Noadware...I don;'t see any option for Ignore on Spybot. Is there one ? I see the option in Spykiller and noadware. I see Exclude from detection bla bal bal, but its grayed out.

*edit*
I believe i found it. You have to be in Advance Mode. But still when right click, its still grayed out.

I use adaware often, and it does the trick. hijackthis! is a fun one too. It lets you edit out the files that escape spybot and adaware manually... but you need to be a little careful, because I've jacked my registry with it at least twice now!  :P

LOL. On the main screen, with the user name, this topic read..

"How do you get rid of ...    Thenasty"

..!

Heh heh heh.  ;D

Have you tried using the Firefox browser? I have been using it for months, and my spyware problems have been reduced tremendously.

yahoo has an online  spyware scanner that runs from their toolbar.  get their toolbar and run that too.  it found some stuff on a pc that the other 3 didn't.

Oh yeah, get mozilla firefox!

The Microsoft Anti-Spyware is pretty good... it's pretty much unchanged from when it was GIANT Anti-Spyware.

Microsoft / Giant is the best IMHO I use it with Pest Patrol and Spybot. Between the 3, My system stays clean despite the portn sites.  ;D

Your best bet is to get ad-aware and spybot, make sure they're up to date.  Also, GO DOWNLOAD MICROSOFT ANTI-SPYWARE! I've found it works better than the other two combined (personal experience, I'm sure your results my vary, not trying to start a flamewar on the topic).

Boot into safe mode (WITHOUT networking, if you have the option (XP, 2k).  Do your scans there.  this should pretty much clean you up.  If not, you may have something pesky like VX2, which is a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS to get rid of.  Here's a link for removal using Killbox and DLLCompare.

Also, if you don't want spyware DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER.  I was always of the opinion that with SP2 and a properly updated system, that there was no need for firefox, and that IE was the only browser I was gonna use.  After getting hit by VX2 and CWS (cool web search, even harder than vx2 to get rid of...), I decided to try not using IE for a while, and switched to firefox.  Now, I like firefox better, and I run scans daily, and since the switch I have had exactly 0 spyware infections.  When I was using IE, almost every other scan would come up positive for spyware.

IE is very insecure, and it's the security holes that sites use to inject spyware.
