My high-school level Battlebots IQ team is preparing to build a robot for this year's Battlebots IQ competition at Universal Studios in Orland, Florida. Considering that the competition is in mid-April, we are in a bit of a time crunch and still lack funding. Our robot, however, is completely planned out and engineered, and would have been built if not for lack of funding. If at all possible, will any of you be able to sponsor us patially or completely? We are looking for sponsorship of around $6000. A donation would be tax-deductable, and your company logo can be placed on the robot, along with any other ideas you may have, including on the name of the robot, team name, and robot graphics (as long as they are appropriate and follow the guidelines stated in the rulebook). The event will be nationally televised and you will be represented to the best of our ability. If you are interested, please PM me your name, address, and phone number so that I can sent you our "info-packet" (please, United States only). Thank you so much for your consideration and for reading this neverending post.
Attached are CAD drawings of the robot design.

The best way to go about this is to contact companies directly... especially companies you would probably buy parts from. You may find they will donate parts as well as money.
I am part of a team at my college that designs a radio-controlled aircraft to complete a specific mission for a competition. We have had a lot of money as well as parts and services donated to us. Also, don't be afraid to fundraise! I think our team has raised $14,000 dollars so far from donations and fundraisers.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks, but I have one problem. Most robot part companies won't donate parts or money because so many people ask for sponsorship. Thanks again.

Try your local gym. Not the "fitness centers" type, but an actual gym. Golds Gym comes to mind...

you may want to think laterally. for instance, some car workshops LOVE this sort of stuff!!

Yeah, you would be suprised who will sponsor you. We even had Pizza Hut as a sponsor one year.
