Random musings from MAME developers...
"If there are two drivers we as mamedev should probably regret ever adding it's neogeo and cps2, quite simply two of the biggest mistakes in history." - Haze
I was browsing MAMEWORLD and saw this quote on the side of the page. I guess my question, is why were adding those drivers a mistake? Some was some trouble? Just curious about the history of MAME.

I would assume it has to do with little warez kiddies demanding the addition of every new CPS2 and NeoGeo game that came out.
People going "OMG U DON'T SUPPORT MARS MATRIX AND KING OF FIGHTERS 2000 U SUK!111" back in 2000 would be sure to annoy them greatly.

NeoGeo because they still where using the hardware and hoped that people wouldn't dump new games to help SNK and Capcom.
also because they where basically rom replacements for each game... So once those dumps where out... they could be used right away.
CPS2 still needs the xors... And I think this one was specificially because of the whiners...
