Title: Ebay Members help Stop David Foley <Ultracade>
Post by: DreamArcades on February 22, 2005, 01:49:40 pm: Dream Arcades, MAMEroom.com, EMDKAY Marquees and others have been harrrassed and/or had auctions shutdown by David Foley.

Ebay intends to let David Foley shutdown any Auction that uses they keyword "MAME". If you are an Ebay member please help us stop this. Please e-mail Ebay's VeRO program and let them know

If many people can agree that Mame was started way before Ultracade even existed, then one would believe a case could be won...

Post by: quarterback on February 25, 2005, 12:52:48 pm: Not to sound like a nay-sayer, but I'd be surprised if eBay responded/cares without receiving a letter from a law office. In general they keep out of things & don't generally care what a small number of users say... UNLESS it's going to cost them money.

I think a better bet would be to start a thread in one of the eBay forums. A lot of non-BYOAC sellers would see it and potentially be interested in a person shutting down auctions illegitimately. Perhaps from there some kind of reaction could be elicited.

I once had an aucion shut down by a Vero member. It wasn't completely bogus (like this situation) but it wasn't right. I tried to get it cleared up but eBay basically told me that the Vero member said I used their copyright so the auction gets pulled. End of story.

I tried contacting the Vero member and got no reply.

I reposted my auction and it sold without incident.

Anyway, all I'm trying to say is that ebay doesn't give a crap about every little disagreement people have about what is and isn't right. They take the Vero complaints seriously because they don't want to be involved in a lawsuit but unless all their power sellers threaten to stop selling on eBay, they don't really care.
