Title: New Nvidia card tv out capabilities
Post by: ArcadeUtah on February 18, 2005, 01:23:55 pm
I just got a new geforce 6600 PCIE card. I just barely started messing around with the tv-out capabilities.  They have improved substantially over my geforceti 4200.  You can now select many different resolutions to output to tv including 320x200.  I was just looking at a browser and tested some dvd playback. The browser test was crystal clear up to 720x480. DVD playback was incredible. I am posting this here because it appears the option of using a regular tv just got better. I was using a 27 tv for a monitor in my machine for a while but I couldn't take it for very long. I use the machine for windows games and internet as well, so I needed a more multipurpose solution like a computer monitor.  With this new card, however, the tv seems to be a real alternative for me.  I got the card from newegg for $113

Don't forget that ppl will also need a motherboard that supports PCI-Xpress to use that particular card.

Generally it's the nvidia drivers that improve moreso than the cards themselves.

All the same, the features available to the GeForce6600 PCIE cards are also available to the entire 6XXX family, including the very cheap 6200 cards, as well as the regular AGP 6600 and 6800 cards.
