Title: Hotlinked Images On My Site

Posting this here for the next day to get max exposure.

If any of you are linking to my old avatar of Lindsey Lohan, I advise you to stop.  I found a bunch of people doing it on other sites, so I changed the image to something less...tasteful.

Don't link to it here, it's certainly NSFW.  Just FYI for the regs here.

I hate hotlinkers with a passion. Every month I "rotate" my image and video directory naming to break the evil-doers links. I get a *dramatic* decrease in bandwitdh usage -- saving sometimes up to a terabyte (!) in bandwidth a month.

Wow!

In my case it seems limited only to my avatars.  Esp. the Lindsey Lohan one.  So I've replaced the image with rather pictures of gay pr0n ads.

So far only one person has noticed, but since I did it around midnight last night, it may take a couple.

My favorite is the guy on a football forum.  The picture somehow blends in with the rest of the decor.

So hopefully the BYOAC crowd, if any, has replaced the images.  I do note from the logs that people have been trying to get an index of the avatar dir. since this post.  Sorry, guys!

I never understood why people do this either.  It's silly.  It's only an avatar file a few bytes in size.  It isn't going to break somebody to just download the image and host it (or just upload it; most forums now allow this) theirself.   >:(

Sorry Peale, guilty as charged. In my own defense, I tried to copy it and host it myself. I kept getting an error message when I tried to copy it. In any case I've removed the hotlink.
