I can't quite seem to get my spinner working on my KE72T. I am using an Oscar Model 3 spinner, and the optics board on it is labeled. But there are no labels on the KE72T, so I'm not sure which order to wire them. Does anyone know the proper wiring scheme?

is the KE... a keyboard encoder? If so, you do not hook up spinners to that.

shawnzilla - Unfortunately, I do not have the pinout for the KE72-T's trackball header. However, if you have the mouse PS/2 cable plugged in and the encoder attached to a PC (with it running), you should be able to identify at least the +5V and GND pins on the header with a multimeter. After you have those pins identified, there should be (4) pins left for the signal inputs. From there, you should be able to trial-n-error the connections for the x-axis by physically attaching them to the spinner S1 & S2 signal outputs. All else fails, send an email to Hagstrom's tech support for the exact pinout of the header. Hagstrom has very good customer support from my experience, and should give you the answers you are looking for.

Thanks Oscar, I'm sending them an email now. BTW, I love my "MAME" engraved spinner knob!

From the manual:
The KE72-T Trackball Connector:
Use this input to connect "raw" data from optical encoders on a trackball
or other pointer type device. All input signals must be compatible with
5V logic levels.
Connector on KE72-T FOR MODEL KE72-T ONLY!
__________
|
|---- A1 = Y axis signal
|
|---- 5V = Power for Y axis
|
|---- GND = Ground for Y axis
|
|---- B1 = Y axis signal
|
|---- A2 = X axis signal
|
|---- 5V = Power for X axis
|
|---- GND = Ground for X axis
|
|---- B2 = X axis signal

NOTE: We have interface cables for use with the KE72 and popular trackball
units.
The KE72 Mouse Button Inputs:
Use this port to connect switches for simulating mouse button information.
These inputs are activated by shorting them to the common Ground signal
provided. All input signals must be compatible with 5V logic levels.
