I plan on getting a keyboard encoder and not sure whether to get anIPAC2 or
IPAC VE or even a Mini-PAC.
I plan on using many different key assignment setups for gaming and nongaming applications, and would like to easily and quickly load various setup(batch?) files.
I see the IPAC2 and Mini-PAC are EPROM and the IPAC VE is volatile SDRAM.
Would this make any difference if I would be loading different setup files at
application startup?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Well im gonna put this simply. To avoid screwing yourself over in the future, just go with an iPac 2. It's affordable and works the best of the 3. The difference it would make is that it's already there. Thats all. If you think you can easily load the files in on startup, thats fine, no difference. Its just nice to know that your keys will ALWAYS be there if your computer goes down or something. Also, lets say you get a new computer or bring just your panel to a friend's house, you can use it with your default keys already there. You plug it in as a keyboard and you're off to a flying start, whereas it would take you 15 minutes to get the programmer, get your keys coded, and start playing. Im aware this won't happen often, if at all in real life, but it's always nice to know.
