If not within the first month, at least by 2006 this will have probably been defeated.
Something fairly similar is already being used on CD's, and there are moderate success stories of defeating it.
The thing plays fine, but when it detects SOMETHING that a ripping program "alerts" it to, it ends up with dropouts, skips, and whatnot.
There will ALWAYS be people that can and will crack this stuff.

Maybe im missing how thats going to do anything what so ever..
Most "dump" Utils out just look for region codes and dump the raw VOB files.. and unless its over the 4.3 gig limit, it just gets dumped to a disk after, if its to big, a simple compression tool to write the VOBs does the job..
Point i think im trying to make, if it plays in the dvd drive in your Pc, itll copy from there as well.. theres no real way to stop it, nor slow it down.

Ok well stage one of this is already in place, Sony released ARccOS and put in on 2 of their disks "the forgotten" and "resident evil apocolypse" anyway, with 6 days of its release, a program called ANYDVD was out, and in conjuction with dvd decryptor, back to ripping and burning i less than a week. Have no fear ladies and gents. just keep your eye on dvdrhelp.com and look through their message boards and programs
