Title: press ok and "any key" - i know there is a bypass
Post by: j123vt_99 on February 13, 2005, 08:01:02 pm
i have mame32 v.92. i know there is a way to bypass the "type ok to continue" and "press any key", but i can't find the thread.. i guess it is because "ok" and "any" are too small to search on.. i already have the following in mame.ini

skip_disclaimer 1
skip_validitychecks 1
skip_gameinfo 1

i read that one, but that seemed to imply changing something in the binary.c.. not an ini setting

There's no imply about it. You can't disable all warnings without changing source.

wiggling the joystick left then right is the same as physically typing OK...

J123vt_99,

A couple of points,

I haven't tested with MAME 0.92 yet, but first off, (I could be wrong), but I believe MAME32 sets changes in the registry and command-line windows MAME uses the mame.ini file.

So either you want to use MAME.ini as above with command-line MAME in a front-end, or you want to open MAME32 and then Select Options-Interface Options-Emulation and check skip disclaimer, and skip game info.

Now there are four "Press Ok to continue" screens that may come up.

-Skip disclaimer - this is the warning about using roms you don't own.  You only see it the first time you run a game (I think if MAME can't find a gamename.cfg file), so if you don't disable it, you will only see it once.
-skip game info - this is the set-up screen that MAME displays with the CPU's the game used, etc.

-skip warnings - This is the screen that MAME pops up that says "This game has known errors, Screen flipping in cocktail mode is not supported", etc.

-skip baddumps - This is the screen that says "ROM XXXXX - No good dump known  YYYY is best available"

The last two skip options are only available by changing the source code and compiling MAME (not too hard to do), or by using BuddaBing MAME (I think it will have these when it comes out) or NoNameMAME (but 0.83 was the last real version).

Hope this helps.

Mame32 switched to ini files a while ago, and does not use the reg anymore.  But, the mame32 ini file you want to edit is in the ini folder, not in the base mame folder like official mame.

Thanks, Urebel, I didn't realize that, but if you change the settings through the GUI it should work either way.

I changed the settings in my Analog+ via the GUI interface, and it still gives me the 'type ok to continue' warnings, and then the game info screens- even tho I have it marked as disable. Am I missing something here?
Thanks
