Post by: Tim on February 13, 2005, 11:16:33 am
Hey guys. Subject sums it up.. Im looking for an Ipac4 to either order from a company or purchase from someone in Canada. Got burned twice on ebay for some things and brokerage fees... blood suckers I say.

Thanks for your time guys.

Order from Ultimarc.   I got mine in about 5 days and there were minimal charges.   Not like UPS from the USA (robbers).
I got a request for about 4.00 later in the mail from the expediting company.

Hey BobA.

I just looked at there site. Learned a few things in the process.

If thats the case I might order from them. I'll see if someone on this side of the world wants to offload theirs.. I'll give if a few days and if no one responds I'll give them a shot. I never ordered anything outside of NA before except for Japan.. and that order took 12 weeks.. you wouldnt think a little transistor would take that long to get here.

Thanks, Tim.

Bad timing on this ... I just placed my Ultimarc order on Friday and could have tacked an iPac4 on without trouble and shipped to you from Toronto (although I would obviously pass along the relevant customs charge for the additional item).

If you order more than a few items from Ultimarc, the shipping can be a really good deal ... but you can then get burned by the duty and GST charges.

As BobA points out, avoid getting stuff shipped internationally via UPS ... the brokerage fees can be more than the cost of the item.

Cheers,

Cheffo Jeffo

Long shot this but if you only ordered on Friday, then its possible that it has not shipped from Ultimarc. (although knowing Andy it probably has!).

You could always email him to see if he could add one in - he can only say its already shipped.

Man that Andy guy is fast. Ya I have been known to have the worst timing. I still haven't desided on a 3 player layout or a 4 player.. so now its time to look for a Canadian supplier for my buttons and joysticks.

If you near Toronto.... Go to Starburst Coin (www.starburstcoin.com (http://www.starburstcoin.com))

They sell all Happ parts at good prices. Cheaper then ordering them from happs.

I should correct my prior statements ... I placed my order with Ultimarc on Saturday, not Friday (too much Stoli on Friday night, I guess) and it arrived in Toronto today with no GST or duty owing (although I don't rule out a bill for these in the future).

Thanks to Andy for such prompt service!!

RE: Starburst

Easiest way to get in touch with them is to take note of the Happ's part numbers and e-mail partsdept@starburstcoin.com. They'll get back to you with prices and availability (Dave the manager got back to me within 90 minutes of my e-mail).

For reference, I am picking up an order tommorrow and am looking at C$2/button (C$2.50 for P1/P2/P3/P4), C$15 for Ultimate Joys.

Cheers,

JAKD

Sorry, I know I'm adding to an old post, but as Canadians, do we even pay for customs charged, within the British Commonwealth?

Only sometimes though, apparently it's random.  Sometimes you get snagged, sometimes you get no bill :D  I was going to order from Starburstcoin too, I figure, buttons are $1.95 USD from Ultimarc, whereas they're $2.30 CAD from Starburst -- I gotta check into this a bit...1 and 2 player from Ultimarc = $2.90e whereas they're $2.88 from Starburst (yes I added taxes).  Sounds good...anyone wanna pick up an order for me ;D

Cholin: I live about 3 minutes away from Starburst and can pick up an order for you, if you wish.

I don't know if I could match their shipping price (have never asked them to ship, so don't know what they charge) AND if you are outside of Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes you should be able to avoid PST/HST (which can't be done on a pickup).

PM me if you really want me to pick up an order for you (and they have Happs 3" Wht trackballs on sale for C$55 right now).

Cheers,

JAKD

Im gonna have to look into what they would charge for shipping.  I emailed the parts dept yesterday and Im waiting for a response.  Im not really orderring too much, and since I live in Niagara Ontario, Ill have to pay some taxes :(
