Hi all,
I thought someone here might know the answer to my question.
I have hooked a Midi keyboard to a computer and want to record songs I'm plying to the computer. I've found/downloaded a couple of programs, namely Anvil Studio and Noteworthy Composer. They both record what I am playing on the keyboard to a staff in the software, but is missing the "timing". Everything is getting recorded as a quarter note. I think I can click on a half note, play the note and it will record a half note, but this is way too cumbersome.
Does anyone knopw of something out there that will record the note timing properly as well as the niote itself? That is, in a 4/4 staff, I would play a half beat and two quarter beats and it would write the music properly?
Free software would be nice, but not a requirement...

Not free, but Cakewalk makes some excellent, recording/MIDI products.

Take a look at Music Creator version 2, retails for around $40. It does MIDI recording, allows the use of DXi soft synths, handles sheet music and all of that.
If you are looking for a little more power, Home Studio version 2 would do nicely, but that starts getting pricey.
I've used Cakewalk products before, and I can say that their software is easy enough to use for people getting started with this sort of thing, but powerfull enough, and with plenty of features, to grow with you as you advance.
