Just a quick question on thie trident blade 3d. Why are they so special?
I seem to remember a big fuss being made over this card straight after they were released but I can't find much about in the archives that says why everyone was making such a fuss.
I want to output directly to an arcade monitor and will be using either arcadeOS or advance mame. Does a trident blade offer any advantages over, say an ATI rage pro?

it's one of the few cards that can output at 15Khz for arcade monitors.
However, if you are looking at getting a card, wait a few months, Andy (www.ultimarc.com) is coming out with an ati based card.

The card itself is not that special. Saka wrote a driver that allows the card to output at 15hz. However, the card does not support hardware stretch and thus does nothing for windows mame.
I have one if you want it. It allows you to play any game that is 640x480 or a derivative of, but thats it. It made NEO-GEO games look better then real NEO-GEO games.
