Hi there, I've got a silly question, but I don't want to end up breaking my cab. I Own a 26 1/2" Dynamo Cab.
My concern is that I want to remove the backpanel to paint inside, but I don't see any screws, bolts, etc. that enable me to remove it... do you guys have a suggestion, I've been thinking of hammering it out, i dunno

In any case if yours is like mine, there's a lock in the middle-top of the rear door which is all that holds the back door on mine. If the lock is gone it's possible that someone nailed in on and filled/ painted over the nail holes.

Mine is a traditional Dynamo Cab, those are generic cabs. Your cab looks a lot like a Dynamo Cab. Except for the Control Panel, mine has a metal control panel with cut corners.... Maybe someone did remove the lock :(

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to paint the inside of the cab anyway?

Mine has a metal control panel as well.
Going back to the door, rather than hammering it out, you may try just pushing it out from the inside. If it's nailed in with just a few short nails you may be able to push it out and not damage anything.

this is why, I'm going to paint the inside white, then cover the coin door hole with plexi, snap on a couple of blue neon lights!! to let the PC glow!! :D

Ah.. Okay. Either way you're going to need back panel access. If not for painting, for setting up other stuff.

have you tried to pry it apart with a crow bar?

Assuming his back door is like mine, it fits between the side panels. I'm pretty sure you'd end up breaking a side panel if you tried prying with a crowbar.

Since this is an existing cab:
1) Clean it out well. I mean really, *really* well.
2) gut it. Completely.
3) climb in the back door and paint the inside. Mask off anything you DON'T want painted.
Or am I missing something?

Step 3 - Don't get it :-\ - I mean how can I climb in the back door!! The cab has a monitor shelf so I cant reach the bottom from behind!! I can only reach inside through the coin door hole :(
My cab is already painted outside...

There isn't a back door with a key to remove to access components back there? Can't see anything, since you didn't provide pictures of the back. The very place you're asking advice on!

I'm sorry I haven't posted pictures.. The arcade is in my old home, I'm living in an apartment now. There's no keyhole, I don't see any hinges from the inside that indicate that the back door is open able... :-\. I'll see if my brother can shoot a picture for me tonight so I can post it and get more answers

Most cabs don't have hinges, it fits in a groove.
Look at the top center of your back door. Do you see a lock?
Or a few screws around the edges?
I've never seen a wooden cab that the back panel is not removable.
If its a lock in the back just see if you can reach the back of the lock from the front and remove the cam portion.

Please do! All the cabs I've seen have had a removable back door, so you have access to components.

Dynamo (and a few other game cabinet manufacturers) made some cabinets without back doors. The reasoning was then there would be no way for kids to break into the back of the machine. In these kinds of cabinets ALL access was from the front only.
I have seen some cabinets that did have back doors, but they were screwed shut and did not have a lock (or lock hole). Sometimes the wood swells and a back door is hard to remove. That's when I use a metal putty knife to wedge in there and pop it open.

I would assume that the monitor shelf is removable since mine is virtually identical to his except mine doesn't have a monitor shelf and does have a back door.

Here's another thought... Does your cab have a front drawer? When you open the control panel (swivels open) can you pull on it and pull open a drawer?
If so, maybe this style cab does not open in the back. I know Dynamo had at least one variation of it's cut-corner cab where a drawer in the front slid out. It was great for swapping PCBs cuz they would just sit in the drawer!

I had a Cyberball like that. Pretty handy. Doesn't look from the picture like his does that though. Mine is hinged on the bottom of the CP, looks like his attaches the same way.

THAT is the type of cab i OWN!! :)... is really comfortable for that reason, but I'm willing to paint inside. Maybe I can spraypaint it from above...
