Title: save high score in pac man?
Post by: danny_galaga on February 06, 2005, 05:09:15 am
title says it all. getting into the pacman a bit and a bit sad that the high score doesnt save. i have the high score file thingo and most other games save high scores. i appreciate that not all are going to be able to but surely pacman is a must? i'm mame32 version 78.
is there some little patchy type thingy i can put in the high score folder or something?

If you want bragging rights you could always take a screen cap.

IIRC Pac-Man does save the hi scores...is this a particular version of Pac-Man?

Edit: just checked cheat.dat, and pacman and a bunch of games that run on that board are there, it must be a config issue.  If you've upgraded your Mame version, delete the .nv files from 'nvram' as they're often not cross-version compatible.

Could be due to a corrupt hi score file.  Look in the "hi" directory for the pacman.hi file or the one that goes with the version you are running.  Delete it, assuming it is OK to lose any previous high scores.  See what happens.

For some new versions of the hiscore.dat file changes are made to save additional information requiring you to delete the old file for particular games from the "hi" directory or hi score saves will no longer work for those particular games.
