Ok, so I have 2 older pc's that are 333-450mhz and I can run xp on them with mamewah and most of the vertical games play fine. Now I have been tweakin xp and mame to play better and better. well I have read where people are saying just use mame .35 or .55 and mame will run faster period. makes sense but is ther a way to take mame .72 or .86 roms and get them to work with the older exacutables?
thank you yet again

Generally this is not a problem - Here is the typical scenario -
MAMEdevs discover PCB for GameY and extract the Data from ROMS A, B, and C, and it gets added in MAME 0.56.
Later, they find out the ROM D and E are also required (but were on a different part of the PCB, so for MAME 0.75, GameY uses all five ROMS.
GameY will work in either Build with the 0.75 Roms, but the 0.56 Roms won't work in 0.75.
There are exceptions - often the MAME team will rename roms from the set. www.clrmame.com will usually fix this. Also, sometimes roms will move from one set to the next. This won't matter as MAME will search all the sets, but Clrmame will clean this up too, if needed.

Hmm, well since mame .35 will not work with mamewah (will not generate a list) what should I pull outta my sleeve now?
All I want is a vertical frontend!!! *starts balling*

I use EmuLoader, it could handle this.
In EL, you would have to uncheck "Use XML" to use an older MAME. Don't know if MAMEWah has something similar. . .

Would an older version of MameWah work?
