How can you edit an individual cfg file on a game? When you open it in notpad, it's all mubo jumbo. I want to be able to edit for example hattrick.cfg or mspacman.cfg. I wanted to know if anyone has done this before.

you can't edit CFG files. The only way you can change the values in them are running the GAME then change it in TAB menu (for this game).

Actually, you CAN edit cfg files, IF you use mame 0.85 or after. So get a current mame and take a look. It's in an xml file format, pretty easy to understand. EasyEmu (http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/) just added some info (direct link (http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mameguide/mamecontrolini.htm) to the best, ATM, page). MameFAQ has a little info (http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html#h04), too, but not much.
Of course, you can't hand edit on pre 0.84 mames, like it looks you're using.
