Title: How many games use teh Battlezone style controls?
Post by: Hoagie_one on February 02, 2005, 01:02:09 pm
where you have two controllers and a fire button or two.

Thinking about incorporating it into one of my CP's if there a more than a few games that use it

Assault, Vindicators, Sarge, Robotron, Karate Champ, Smash Brothers... gotta be more, but that's off the top of my head for two joys for one player.  Assault is a must-have if you've got the controllers for it.

Hoagie,

I don't know about other games, but Vindicators actually use three buttons (2 top buttons to rotate the turret and a trigger button).

If you are considering a "tank controller", you might want that third button. Vindicators is a very fun game, although I still prefer Assault.

Well, now that I think about it, Vindicators used two 2 way joysticks. You can probably configure MAME to accept the horizontal axis of one (or both) of the joysticks to control the turrets. It might take some time to get used to it, but you will still be able to play Vindicators with 8 way topfire sticks.
