I am told this is a Taito cab converted to NeoGeo.
-
I thought Taito cabs were all shaped like this:
(pic coutesy of Spriggy in the Artwork forum (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,19558.40.html)):

Looks like a williams--joust maybe or moon patrol perhaps.
edit: moon patrol maybe--i see the glimpse of blue in the lower left hand edge
-
NOT Moon Patrol. I've got one, not even close. Note the over/under?
-
I don't know, but as long as we're playing "what did my Neo-Geo start life as?", anyone want to take a crack at mine?

I thought we already figured out yours was a Centipede.
-
Man Sting, I gotta say, that's a nice conversion tho. Did you get it that way or DIY?
-
Witchboard- No, somebody suggested that, but it's clearly not a Centepede. Take a look at the one on KLOV.
Gunstar- Someone else added the MVS bits, but the cab it's self was painted black and in fairly rough shape when I got it. I painted it red, replaced the t-molding, added the sideart and swapped the old worn out controls for new. So, I'm resposible for how it looks cosmeticly. Thanks for the compliment.

Great job man. I thought it was a dedicated at first glance. :o

I guess it's not. Since you replaced the controls, did you notice how many buttons the old CP had? Joys or trackball holes or anything like that?
-
Note the over/under?
missed that--here you go officer :police: arcade licence revoked....

All evidence has been removed. They cut off the upper half of the CP and basicly built a new one it's place. The inside does look as though it was originally wired for Jamma though, I don't see any signs that they pulled the guts out of an older cab and added a Jamma harness. Also the monitor is attached to a peice of square plywood behind the plexi. If you remove four screws you can pull the monitor out and change it's orientation from horizontal to vertical, and screw it back down. Don't know if either of those tidbits might help ID or not.

You already knew the answer? That's no fun. ^_^ I'll have to take a few shots of my pile and see what's in there.
-
No I just found that.
-
Well let us know if there's any sign of the original side art. The person who did the MVS conversion on mine (presumably) pulled the old side art off, tearing up the paint with it. Took a lot of sanding to smooth that back out.

Certainly is a Double Dragon hiding under there - Haven't had much of a chance to muck around with it yet.
-
In the second pic you can see the drawer on the front of the cab.
-
Obvioulsy the DD cpo is shot, but I might be able to scan it and do a repro.
-
Range of emotions....
WooHoo!
Doh!
Cool!
So the woohoo is the art is there. Of course the Doh is that they cut out the bezel to make room for the SNK leds and the Cool is that if I don't use the leds, hopefully I can get a few $$ for them to help finance the needs of this cabinet.
The artwork is enough to scan and repro if I want, so that is a good thing.

This is now up for grabs in Atlanta, come get it!
