I know many have used wood and metal for overlays (even saw one with glass!), but would it be possible (and how hard) to make a control panel out of plexiglas/lexan/acrilic/perspex? It is intended for a desktop panel, not for a cabinet. ive got an ipac4, 25 btns, 2 joys and a whole lot of wires ;)

They had one for sale on eBay a while ago. Somebody should chime in with the pic soon. ;)

Well if someone can make a whole cab out of plexi then a cp should be a breeze.

mmmm, see through panel

I know you can buy tinted plexiglass or lexan in black (see through), blue, red, etc. I think it would be pretty easy to do and would look pretty nice if you were careful. Even if you use like 1/2" or 3/4", it would probably still be lighter that mdf too!

You could sand a pattern into the underside of the plastic, and illuminate it from the edge for a glowing effect.

has anyone got any links? ive never used acrilic be4 and i dont want to screw it up.
A tutorial would help too ;)

Polycarbonate (lexan) would be easier. It stronger and doesn't crack, but it scratches easier than acrylic.

There was a super nice looking one on ebay a while back that was made from plexi. They wanted WAY too much for it, but it was cool.
