OK, I'm not sure if the time is right for a project announcement but I'm going to anyway.

My advice is to plan, plan, plan before you make a single cut. Get the measurements for that monster monitor and work your measurements outwards from that. Check out Whammocade (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,21818.0.html) for hints & cautions.
Don't forget to plan out your material usage (including cut waste). It may make the difference between one and two (or two and three) sheets of plywood.

With a 27 inch monitor, I'm not sure it's still a cocktail table, it's more of a dining room table. ;)
Good luck, I look forward to your progress.

Its really not as big as you think 37" x 27" is only 5" bigger each way compared to a "normal" midway cab at 32" x 22".(looks like your doing something similar to me and not having quite as much overhang for the top to keep its dimensions down a bit)

I might have to resize it a little to your 25.5 x 24.5 inside dimensions because I also want to put some admin buttons on the front above the P3/P4 CP... Your dimensions leave about 1" on the long side to play with and 2.5" on the short side but I'm guessing you need that 2.5" to accomodate those admin buttons... I never would have thought of that...

Do you have your panels yet? Gozur is selling a set of the ones I had made for cheap:

I will be buying them back from him if no-one wants them.

Wow - it's been a while.

i found it was the the depth of the monitor that is a big issue for me. the cabinet needs to be tall enough to accomodate the monitor, motherboard + PSU and also cashbox of the coindoor. but also not make the table too tall as to make it uncomfortable to play/view the screen.
definitely recommend you do good planning (scale drawings) to plan the internal layout of the various components before you start any build work.
heres a link to my cocktail cab in case your interested

Your cab is sweet! Very nice work... I am a little worried about fitting everything inside but I haven't made any cuts yet for things like the coin door, speaker grills, fans etc... I made the total height 29-3/4" tall including the 1" top. The monitor I'm going to use is the WG d9200 and from the specs sheet it looks to be only 19-1/2" deep so hopefully there will be plenty of room to work with in there. I am putting the coin door a little low (underneath the 3rd CP) and I think I'm just going to use some cardboard for the coin box to save on some space. There is so much to think about and coordinate it make me a little nuts!

It can be 27" and still be a cocktail, I just finished JAMMING a 27" monitor into an Atari Dunk Shot cocktail. And I jammed it in vertically, had I put it in horizontal like the original one then I could have gotten a 31" in there.

Hey, so it's a JAMMED JAMMA cab.
JAMMAJAM!
Or hey, if the original thrread starter went the jamma route, "JAMES JAMMED JAMMA"

UPDATE: The project is on hold (likely dead). I built the carcass and tried to fit it in the TV room and it's just too big. I think a standard 19" cocktail cab is really all there is room for so instead of pouring any more money into the project I've decided to order a kit from arcadedepot and the 19" vision pro from happs. It's roughly the same cost for the 19" monitor and the kit as the d9200 would have been so it's not a big loss. I also learned a lot putting it together - especially how to use my tools...
I don't think the wife is going to be too happy about the wasted wood though... oh well... I will update my progress on the new cabinet in another thread when the time is right...
